Could the Independent Inquiry in England and Wales expose jw.org's child abuse failures? And how can we help?
by defender of truth inwith all the talk about the org's policies and failures regarding child sexual abuse being publically exposed in australia, i thought that it may be a good time to highlight this... i apologise if this has already been discussed, but on the 9th of july the independent inquiry into child sexual abuse in england and wales was opened.
here is some information regarding it's aims.. "about the inquiry.
the inquiry offers an unprecedented opportunity to examine the extent to which institutions and organisations in england and wales have taken seriously their responsibility to protect children.. the inquiry will investigate a wide range of institutions including:.

Well done Paul Bonanno.
If people are not sick of me posting about this yet, here are some interesting quotes from recent news articles:
A five-year inquiry has been launched to uncover institutional paedophile activity and cover ups, and Professor Alexis Jay who is on the panel of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, has warned that the range of abuse is potentially enormous.
Now she is reassuringly dauntless in the face of an investigation which will reach into the powerhouses of Britain, from Westminster and the BBC, to health services, schools, churches, charities and local authorities.
She said: “If abuse has been carried out by anyone, anywhere, it doesn’t matter where they sit in our hierarchy, it needs to be uncovered.”
It will investigate abuses and any cover ups in England and Wales but its tentacles will inevitably touch Scotland.
Dame Lowell Goddard, the New Zealand judge running the five-year inquiry, has promised it will be transparent and lead to “meaningful change”.
www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/crime/scots-sex-inquiry-expert-vows-6308432
The Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse is looking at whether public bodies have taken seriously their duty of care to protect children from sexual abuse in England and Wales.
Chairman Lowell Goddard said in her letter to the council: "The terms of reference for the inquiry are extremely broad. As such, it is not yet clear exactly what files, records and documents we will be requesting from your organisations.
"This will become clearer as the work of the inquiry progresses.
"In the meantime we must ensure that no line of investigation is curtailed by the premature destruction of files or records that later become required as evidence."
The head of Britain’s biggest-ever public inquiry has vowed to ‘name names’ as she roots out sick child abusers across the land.
Justice Lowell Goddard, head of the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse, said she will use every legal power to force witnesses to give evidence.
She has written to hundreds of British institutions including the church, the NHS and every Government department ordering them not to destroy records that could relate to child abuse.

I wonder if the WTBTS of Britain has been ordered to not destroy any records, and also the records kept at various Kingdom Halls, by extension? I really hope they have been told not to shred anything...

(Very sorry, I posted the wrong clip there. Let's try again)
They were crafty b*stards though..Listen here as Franz basically admits they wouldn't dare make an absolute and definite statement about 1975, so they don't make an ass of themselves like Rutherford did in 1925.

I distinctly remember going to a special talk given by Fred Franz in which he gave explicit detail to the 1975 doctrine. I was recording that talk and I now wish I knew were that tape cassette is at.
Was this the one?..

(Skip to 7:30 if you want to get to the 1975 reference)
It's worth bearing in mind that Franz was Vice-president at this time, not some lowly CO or elder.
He had previously served as Vice President of the same corporation from 1945 until 1977 and as a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses before replacing Nathan H. Knorr as president in June 1977.

Great post, CrazyGuy. I'd give anything for a recording of that talk..

If you claim in their defense that the Watchtower representative did not actually mention 1975 himself, why did he not correct the interviewer? All he had to do was say ''We are not saying anything will happen in 1975".
Remembering the year that this interview was held (1968), take a look at these quotes:
"Does God's rest day parallel the time man has been on earth since his creation? Apparently so. In what year, then, would the first 6,000 years of man's existence and also the first 6,000 years of Gods rest day come to an end? The year 1975. It means that within a relatively few years we will witness the fulfilment of the remaining prophecies that have to do with the "time of the end"."
Awake! 1966 Oct 8 pp.19-20
"The fact that fifty-four years of the period called the "last days" have already gone by is highly significant. It means that only a few years, at most, remain before the corrupt system of things dominating the earth is destroyed by God."
Awake! 1968 Oct 8 p.13
"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years. Of the generation that observed the beginning of the "last days" in 1914, Jesus foretold: "This generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur."-Matt. 24:34.
Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in highschool and thinking about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight more years to graduate into a specialized career.
But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!"

I am...
INFJ- Advocate (surprised me how accurate this was)
..friends and colleagues will come to think of them as quiet Extroverted types, but they would all do well to remember that INFJs need time alone to decompress and recharge, and to not become too alarmed when they suddenly withdraw.
INFJs take great care of other’s feelings, and they expect the favor to be returned – sometimes that means giving them the space they need for a few days.
..Really though, it is most important for INFJs to remember to take care of themselves.
The passion of their convictions is perfectly capable of carrying them past their breaking point and if their zeal gets out of hand, they can find themselves exhausted, unhealthy and stressed. This becomes especially apparent when INFJs find themselves up against conflict and criticism – their sensitivity forces them to do everything they can to evade these seemingly personal attacks, but when the circumstances are unavoidable, they can fight back in highly irrational, unhelpful ways.
It's pretty rare according to this:
The INFJ personality type is very rare, making up less than one percent of the population

Regarding the case of Romer v. Evans (mentioned at the end of my last post):
The decision in Romer set the stage for Lawrence v. Texas (2003), where the Court overruled its decision in Bowers, for the Supreme Court ruling striking down Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act in United States v. Windsor (2013), and for the Court's ruling striking down state bans on same-sex marriage in Obergefell v. Hodges (2015).

OCS training is demanding and martial. Instructors emphasized the realities of combat day after day...
At some point, this candidate realized he could not in good conscience engage in warfare...
He struggled with his beliefs—even debated them respectfully with the battalion commander—but concluded he could not stay.
It was a painful parting on both sides. He lost a coveted career, the Corps lost a promising candidate. But it had to happen.
Here’s what didn’t happen: Nobody suggested that dropping him from OCS was a violation of the First Amendment’s guarantee of “the free exercise” of religion. He did not say, “I think that in recognition of my sincere religious opposition to war, you should let me stay in the Corps and get my pilot’s wings. I will do the job, except for one thing: I won’t drop bombs or shoot guns.”
I thought of that incident on Thursday, when I read Miller v. Davis.
Is it possible to agree on what religious freedom is not?
It’s not a right to wear a Marine uniform but refuse to fight.
It’s not a right to be a county clerk and decide which citizens you will serve and which you won’t.
Government in particular has an obligation to dismiss any employee who claims a right to discriminate against citizens.
It’s not good enough to say, “Go to another county if you want a license.” It’s not good enough to say, “I won’t let anyone get married.” Those aren’t a clerk’s decisions to make.
"Central both to the idea of the rule of law and to our own Constitution's guarantee of equal protection is the principle that government and each of its parts remain open on impartial terms to all who seek its assistance,” wrote U.S. Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy, in the 1996 case of Romer v. Evans.
